Scheels Design Studio is a unique part of our Scheels Home and Hardware store.  For over 25 years, we have established lasting connections by offering world class customer service and the very best product lines in helping our valued customers create functional, beautiful and personal living and working spaces. 

What we Offer:

We customize home and commercial spaces through in-store and on-site design / sales consultations, including product lines such as :  Indoor and Outdoor furnishings, Area rugs, Lighting, Accent Decor, Window Coverings and treatments, Wall coverings, Fabrics adn Paint / Color.  

Overview:  

The Interior Designer / Window Covering Expert will play a vital role in our Scheels Design Studio located in our Scheels Home and Hardware store in Fargo, ND.  Scheels Interior Designers use professional design and sales techniques to plan, design and furnish residential and commercial spaces while coordinating product selection from our broad selection of in-stock and custom order inventory.  We also offer quality window covering options with our line of Hunter Douglas products.  The Interior Designer / Window Covering Expert associate is to actively seek out customers in and out of our store, greet them in an upbeat and professional manner while providing world class customer service.

Customer Service

  • Genuinely and consistently treat co-workers, customers and business partners like they are the most important person including eye contact, a smile and a genuine “Thank you”
Build Relationships
  •  Develop and maintain appropriate customer base through effective marketing and follow - through
  •  Collaborate:  discuss with the customer their style preference, scope of project and investment plan
  •  Consult / Planning:  provide in-store and, if necessary, on-site services to collect accurate measurements for window treatments, lighting, color, furniture, decor accessories and other products
  •  Advise:  counsel customer / client on space planning, layout and color coordination to ensure practical and esthetically pleasing designs 
  •  Present:  lay-out all product and budget plans for customer / client approval 
  •  Order / Purchasing:  obtain product, or assist store buyers in the order / purchase of products to complete project(s)
  •  Follow-up:  monitor and reach out to customer throughout all phases of the project 
  •  Ownership:  take responsibility for all phases of ensuring a world class customer service experience

  • Grow personal sales by hitting minimum goals and following Scheels professional salesmanship standards to provide an above and beyond customer experience

  • Engage in conversation with customers and assist them in making buying decisions
  • Demonstrate a passion for products in our store
  • Attend all Scheels product training and all store meetings

  • Ability to perform basic math; compute rate, ratio and percent; draw and interpret furniture layouts and measure accurately for window coverings / window treatments
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation to customers and other employees
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organization, attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Strong initiative and vision for continuous improvement while contributing to a positive team atmosphere
  • Exercise judgment and tact while working with customers or co workers
  • Strong oral/written communication and reading skills to communicate effectively and in a timely manner with all levels of the organization

 

Expert Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and or 1-3 months of sales experience.  Associate Degree in Interior Design or experience in the field preferred

Activity:
Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation

Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Scheels cares about the health and safety of our Associates.  Associates are expected to follow all safety procedures and perform their job duties in a fashion that minimizes the risk of injury

Schedule:
Must be flexible to work assigned schedule between 8a.m. and 5p.m., Monday through Friday.  Schedule may include an occasional evening or weekend, pending customer / client needs.  Average hours per week is 40 - 43 hours.
