Overview:

SCHEELS is seeking an individual who has a passion for accounting and problem solving. This individual should encompass a willingness to learn and embrace a culture of hard work and collaboration. The Accounts Payable- Freight position will work hands-on with the Corporate Accounting, Vendor Compliance, Logistics, Warehousing, Ecom, Imports and Stores to ensure that all freight bills are accurate and fair. In addition, they will be responsible for reviewing any freight variances and communicating corrective action to either the Scheels Logistics Routing Coordinators and/or vendors.

The Essentials:

  • Develop efficient systems and protocol for freight billing and analysis.
  • Audit and pay all LTL/FTL freight carrier invoices.
  • Ability to work with the Corporate Accounting team on timely payment of all LTL/FTL freight carrier invoices.
  • Build and maintain vendor/carrier relationships to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Accurately bill stores, warehouses, and Ecom for their portions of all freight invoices
  • Responsible for ensuring that the freight general ledger is accurate and balanced on a monthly basis.
  • Substantiate freight reweigh/reclass invoices from carriers to assess if correct or we need to refute these additional charges.
  • Based on reweigh/reclass findings, work with Scheels Logistics Routing Coordinators and/or vendors on proper routing protocol for Scheels shipments, to help mitigate these additional fees.
  • File damage/shortage claims for stores, on any loads routed by the Scheels Logistics Team
  • Cross train on setting up BOL’s for freight carrier shipments.
  • Help review freight charges on vendor invoices for accuracy against negotiated contracts and help maintain the rules on our internal freight portal.
  • Assist the Vendor Compliance team with credit memo entry.
  • Timely follow-up on outstanding issues.

 

Expert Experience:

Ideal candidates will have an accounting or finance degree or 3-4 years’ work experience in accounting or related field. Minimum of 1 year of logistics experience is preferred. In addition, they should be proficient with basic math/excel functions, have great communication skills and be detail oriented.

 

Activity:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation

 

Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Roles are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Schedule:

Must be flexible to work between 8a.m. and 5p.m., Monday through Friday, with some weekends as needed averaging 40 hours per week
