Job Description:
Overland Park Scheels is currently seeking a Full-Time Cashier. A Scheels Cashier is responsible for quickly processing accurate sales transactions, while providing excellent customer service by greeting and thanking customers, and responding to customer requests. An ideal candidate will provide world-class customer service to all people they encounter. 
 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Greet all customers who enter and exit the store
  • Promote the Scheels Visa Rewards card and be able to clearly explain all benefits
  • Accurately balance cash drawer at the beginning and the end of the day
  • Maintain a clean working environment and personal work space
  • Engage in conversation with the customer to add a personal touch to each and every transaction.
  • End each transaction by saying “thank you” to every customer.
  • Assist in all other duties as assigned
  • Maintain a professional appearance on the sales floor
  • Contribute to a work environment that fosters pride in being part of a winning team and promotes personal growth
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Scheels cares about the health and safety of our Associates. Associates are expected to follow all safety procedures and perform their job duties in a fashion that minimizes the risk of injury

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to perform basic math; compute rate, ratio and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation to customers and other employees
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organization, attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Strong initiative and vision for continuous improvement while contributing to a positive team atmosphere
  • Exercise judgment and tact while working with customers or co workers
  • Strong oral/written communication and reading skills to communicate effectively and in a timely manner with all levels of the organization
  • With or without accommodations, be able to sit, and/or stand, for extended periods of time. Able to reach, balance, walk or crawl
  • Ability to work assigned schedules which may include varied hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.
 
Education and Experience:
Less than high school education; or up to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
 
Schedule:

Must be flexible to work assigned schedule between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm, Monday through Saturday 9:00 am - 9:00 pm, Sunday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Schedules may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Average amount of hours is 40 hours per week.
